Our Sunday Birthday Brunch at Le Peep!... :)

All week, Whit and I have been looking forward to this beautiful Sunday afternoon when we would be celebrating the birthdays of two wonderful people in our family...our niece, Cate, and Whit's mom, Kathie. :) For their special joint birthday celebration, they chose to go to another one of our favorite Nashville spots...Le Peep!! :)

Happy 30th Birthday to Melissa!

We just got home from a wonderful celebration for my sweet cousin, Melissa! She is 30 years old today and I cannot believe it! Melissa and I played together all the time when we were little and I feel like it was not that long ago we were in her room playing "Doctor's Office" or putting on a "News Broadcast." :) Now she has her very own sweet little baby, Brayden. :) Time really does fly!

For her birthday dinner, we went to one of our favorite places in Nashville...Loveless Cafe! It is a true Nashville original and Whit and I don't get out there enough so we were very excited to have a reason to visit this special place!

Tonight was such a fun Southern, home-style, 

celebration of 30 years of Melissa!!

Whit With A Waffle... :)

Those of you who know my husband, Whit, might not have had the privilege of ever watching him eat a waffle. Those of you who have, know that it is a once in a lifetime experience! So much of an experience that I just had to share this on our blog to make sure you were all aware of the Professional Waffle Eater that I have chosen to spend the rest of my life with. :)
(Warning: What you are about to read is a summary of a very difficult process...so if you have a notebook handy, I would  strongly recommend taking meticulous notes because this procedure is not for the beginner waffle eater...so don't be too hard on yourself if you cannot get the process right the first time you attempt to eat a waffle "Whit's Way"...)

Step 1:

Spread butter on the waffle...

Step 2:

Pour syrup on the waffle making sure to fill all of the squares with an even amount of syrup...

 Step 3:

Carefully cut the waffle into 12 pieces

and begin eating around the circle starting with the top right piece and the bottom right piece

(see image below)...

Step 4:

Continue eating every other outside piece of the waffle

while rotating your plate clockwise and working your way in...

eventually creating a pinwheel shape

(see image below)...

Step 5:

Once you have reached the pinwheel stage (see Step 4 above) eat the surrounding edges until you have 4 pieces remaining in the shape of a square (see Step 6 below)

 Step 6:

Eat the two lefthand pieces of the square to create a rectangle of two remaining waffle pieces

(see Step 7)...

Step 7:

Finish eating the rectangle and always remember

to savor your last two bites of the delicious waffle...

Step 8:

Sit back and relish in the joy of your

beautifully finished masterpiece!

Showering Baby Ritt... :)

Last Saturday, it was finally time to shower  Baby Ritt!! :) We had all been looking forward to this shower and it was the perfect, beautiful October afternoon to celebrate a much loved baby! :) 

Here were the cute invitations we chose from Tiny Prints...

Since the Ritter's are not finding out whether 

the baby is a boy or a girl, 

we wrote a poem asking guests to choose 

a blue cookie or a pink cookie 

depending on what they thought the baby would be...

These were the cutest and most delicious cookies! 

Compliments of a wonderful local bakery called Baked! 

(Ashley was great to work with and her cookies were wonderful!!)

They were individually wrapped baby carriages 

adorned with a "R"...

and for people who are keeping count, 

at the end of the shower we were almost 

out of baby boy cookies...

looks like most people are betting on a boy for The Ritts!! )

Tiers of tea sandwiches and fruit were brought to each of the guests' tables as Kaneil opened gifts...

The shower was at a Tea Company in Germantown, so each guest had the option to enjoy a fresh cup of tea...

Leslie came all the way in from NYC to celebrate Baby Ritt... :) 

So, one of the cutest parts of the day was when Kaneil gave us our hostesses gifts!!

She made these cute "cookie kits" for each of us with the ingredients for delicious Cowboy/Cowgirl Cookies!

I cannot wait to try these!!

After the shower, 

we went to The Ritts house to help Kaneil unload the gifts...

a.k.a. to have an excuse to spend time in the nursery and continue the baby celebration... :)

The shower was just the beginning of the celebration for Baby Ritt! We are all so excited for Andrew and Kaneil! They are going to be wonderful parents and Whit and I are looking forward to babysitting for their sweet baby!! :) Thank you for letting us be a part of this special time!!
